What is the commonality among Nagamani, Indramma, Jayalaxmi, Srinivasa Prasad, PB Mahadevappa, KG Padma, R Vijalakshmi, B Srinivas, Maj. Sambashivaiah, Maj. Lab Singh, Maj. Poovaiah, Dakshayini, Shalini Urs, NS Harinarayana, BC Indira, Christina Birdie, KV Sandhya Rani, & Kalai???
Well, they all helped a village chap, called Sreeharsha BG to shapeup his life. These are the men / women, I honour all time. Whenever I have trouble, be it educational or professional or life matters, I always approach one or the other among these people and they are more than happy to lend their experience and save me.
Teachers play a vital role in every person’s life. Whatever we are today, is all ‘cos of their BHIKSHAA. They are so selfless and they say that “If you have a right teacher besides you, your search for the Eternal Truth is always easy”. Teacher means not just S.Radhakrishnan (Teacher’s Day is celebrated in the memorial of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan’s B’day). Anyone who helps us in becoming good in life is a Teacher. They command respect. It’s our duty to bow down & respect them.
But, what’s’ happening in our country. The land which once very famous for “Guru-Shishya” relationship is witnessing students killing their teacher, demanding apologies from their Lecturers. After all, what was the mistake of this teacher of MCM DAV college? He restricted a student – Yamini Sharma using mobile phone in the college. And the result – Strike, College Bandh, and finally demanding his resignation and apology . Is this the way to behave? Shame on them.
In another incident, a near to retire Professor was beaten up in such a way that, he breathed his last on the way to the hospital. Where is our so called “New – Gen / Gen – X / Gen – Next” heading towards?
I remember my grand father narrating the incident he witnessed as a Police officer. The students pulled the carriage, Dr. S.Radhakrishnan seated from his home to the Railway Station in Mysore. At least can’t we show 1/100th of that respect to them who taught us the ability to learn something? Their sigh of pain won’t let us lead good life, be what we are in the society.
Dear Teacher, the whole nation is sorry for this and head down with shame. This is certainly not the way to treat you.
