"What's this Mr. Nagendra, this boy has got good marks in Science but just opposite in Mathematics. I don't think we can admit your boy with this much less marks in Maths, for class VIII. I'm afraid, he would not even clear his SSLC, if he gets such marks in Mathematics, the queen of all subjects", the Headmaster Mr.Mallikarjunappa said.
Nagendra, the boy's uncle, folded his hands and pleaded - "Pls, Sir. We'e come here with great hopes. Pls give a seat to him. I'll make sure that he will clear his SSLC in the very first attempt at least with Second Class".
Then, he donated a fan to please the Headmaster.
The boy did not disappoint them. He walked away from the School getting good marks and also 'Best Student" award 3 years in a row & National Merit Scholarship. The same Headmaster, while handing over him the cheque of Rs. 1000/ remembered this incident, and said " I'll take my words, what I said, 3 years back"
Last Saturday, when I visited S.N.V.V.High School, each and every incident happened there reeled in my mind. :)
How can I forget those joyous moments of Highschool life... PBM Sir for Maths & Physics; SSP for Kannada; KGP for Hindi & English; Headmaster for Biology & Chemistry; ML for Social; PT Master, SVD; Drawing Master HVM; Chandru Sir etc... Every one helped me in shaping my future, (not 'cos I was good, but 'cos of my uncle...lol). The only regret I have & continues to bother is, I never attended the Drawing class. Instead I used to play volleyball. Once, the hurt HVM said - "Agar main marjavoo, tho bhi tum class nahi aavoge.. Get Lost" Sad, just after a year or so, he died & I never got a chance to attend his class.
